چکیده

•Pseudophakic (PsRD) and phakic retinal detachments (PhRD) differed significantly in terms of preoperative characteristics. •PsRD PhRD with cataract showed several clinical similarities. •These results may support the role an inherent genetic predisposition to PsRD, addition surgery itself. Purpose To compare pseudophakic primary rhegmatogenous (RD) and, within RD, eyes without cataract. Design Retrospective comparative study. Methods Setting: Online database prospectively collected data. Study Population: Patients aged ≥50 years who had undergone RD repair. Procedure: Data included baseline demographic features, surgical details, anatomical functional outcomes. Univariate analysis was performed Age sex dependency variables analyzed association final visual acuity assessed using multivariate analysis. Main Outcome Measures: Preoperative intraoperative management, postoperative outcomes, features Results Of 4,231 eyes, 1,212 were 3,019 phakic, among which 310 Pseudophakic significant differences compared including older age, higher prevalence male sex, foveal detachment, grade C proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), inferior breaks, involvement, greater extent. Despite more advanced pseudophakia a positive factor for outcome. Contralateral frequent than (P < .0001). Within exhibited similarities PVR, Conclusions The presenting between occurrence breaks involvement particular. Phakic shared common RD.

Retinal Detachment Following Cataract Surgery

The technical progress in cataract treatment led to the significant decrease of retinal detachment (RD) following surgery. Globally, the risk for RD, 4 years after cataract surgery is around 0.93%. The strategy to decrease the risk for pseudophakic RD includes: preoperative identification of the retinal lesions predisposing to RD, high quality cataract surgery and efficient resolution of compli...
